Islay Mist has been produced on Islay since the 1920s using whisky from the Laphroaig distillery (pronounced ‘La Froig’) and a blend of various Highland malts balanced with Lowland grain whisky. Originally blended for the 21st birthday of the son and heir of the then Lord Margadale, this gold medal-winning whisky still bears the seal of the Lord of the Isles.

True to the original recipe, Islay Mist remains the original peat blend with characteristic balanced smoky and peaty notes between layers of soft oaky maltiness. Whisky writer Dave Broom believes ‘It's a gem’ and claims ‘You can quote me on that’. Some might say that this is rather subjective. For objectivity, you can turn to the gold medals that the whisky wins at international competitions. Here, spirits are blindly judged by industry experts, journalists and connoisseurs.
