Penderyn Portwood, a single malt whisky made in Wales, is named after the type of cask in which it underwent a finish: ex-port casks. Prior to this, the whisky matured for several years in American oak. The selected casks impart rich fruit influences to this whisky, in which distinct notes of port can be found. Penderyn Portwood contains 46% alcohol, is not chill-filtered, and undergoes no added coloring. The aroma combines hints of nuts, dried fruit, dark chocolate, and a touch of cranberry. Creamy and spicy on the palate, with notes of honey and fruit complementing this. The finish is soft and balanced; hints of sweetness and oak come together.
