Terramater
The history of Terramater began in 1996 when the three Canepa sisters decided to build a completely new wine cellar for their well-maintained vineyards (totalling almost 500 hectares). The name Terramater says a lot about the company. Born from exceptional vineyards, up to 70 years old, and beautiful olive groves, up to 50 years old, Terramater produces fruit of exceptional quality. Terramater is the perfect combination of quality, technological innovation and the quest to get the best out of the vineyards, all with great respect for Mother Earth and nature.
This great respect for nature is evident in various initiatives, including minimal use of pesticides through strict disease control in the vineyards, composting all waste from both wine production and olive oil production and reusing it as fertiliser or for the production of biomass, thereby greatly reducing gas and oil consumption. The use of lighter bottles also reduces CO2 emissions, both in the production of the bottles and in their transport to consumers around the world.
Finally, Terramater owns more than 1,000 hectares of undeveloped land. In 2009, a programme was launched to protect native vegetation and animal species.
Terramater's vineyards are spread across three different valleys: Maipo, Curico and Maule.
The Vineyard Reserve range consists of wines with a strong emphasis on fruit, lightly supported by some wood.
