A family story: Winegrowers from father to son for 6 generations, the Castor family is the example of continuity and tradition par excellence.
Modest in size in the past, the operation developed from the 1970s onwards. Indeed, Gérard Castor (5th generation) took over the exploitation of 7 hectares of vines in 1970. At that time the demand was growing, Gérard Castor, then a young farmer, started planting new vines and taking rents. In the early nineties he headed a farm of almost 90 hectares with a production of approximately 4000 Hectoliters. This is when the mentality starts to change, indeed we move from a wave of "high production" to a wave of "quality production" as the first criterion. The next wish is to work on the appearance of the domain; with this in mind, a personalized bottle is created with the logo and name of Vignobles Saint Nabor. In addition, a graphic designer from this period (and still today) will create labels that highlight the domain. It was during this period that Château Saint Nabor partnered with the Intermarché brand and was subsequently distributed throughout France, and remains so today. The beautiful period of Côtes du Rhône wines continues and in 1999 Gérard Castor acquires a farm located in Saint Michel d'Euzet; the Domaine des Santonilles has just been born. The area in production then reached 140 hectares of vines, a size that will change somewhat to this day.
Gérard Castor has two sons, Jérémie and Raphaël.
Jérémie received specialized training in the environment of the vine and wine; he passed a BTA Marketing of Wines and Spirits at the Orange Wine School, then a BTSA Viticulture and Oenology at the Nîmes Wine School and finally a professional trade license specialized in management and marketing of the wine sector from the Suze Wine University Larousse. After his studies, he went to work for a season in California where he was able to gain new knowledge and command of English.
Raphaël is also in the wine industry. He passed a technological baccalaureate and a BTSA viticulture and oenology at the Nîmes Wine School; he then headed towards a professional license specializing in wine tourism. Jérémie joined the estate upon his return from California, followed by Raphaël at the end of his license. Jérémie and Raphaël are the 6th generation of winemakers in the Castor family, they became partners with their father in 2011. They will run Château Saint Nabor together in the near future.
The tradition of the Castor family is perpetuated more than ever.
