Crème de cassis is a sweet, dark purple liqueur made from blackcurrants (in French: cassis). The liqueur is native to France, particularly the Burgundy region, and is often used in cocktails and desserts.

Flavour: intensely sweet and fruity, with a deep berry taste
Colour: dark red to purple
Usage:
Kir: a classic aperitif made of dry white wine and a dash of crème de cassis
Kir Royale: the same combination, but with champagne instead of white wine
Also delicious in desserts, over ice cream, or as a flavouring in sauces
