Aberfeldy 12 Years is a tasty whiskey with a characteristic aftertaste. Full aromas of heather, honey and sweet pineapple in combination with the subtle hints of toffee, grains and vanilla give this whiskey a sweet tone and a fruity softness. The taste is somewhat syrupy, making this whiskey comparable to a liqueur. In addition, the taste is also experienced as oily and slightly smoky. The name Aberfeldy is from Gealic and means "from the mouth of the Poldi Burns". To ensure good malt whiskey for their famous John Dewar's blended whisky, Perth drinks merchant John Dewar's bought a piece of land from the Marquis of Breadelbane. He built the distillery named Aberfeldy in 1898, about 4 kilometers from the farm where he was born. Since 1997, the malt has not been matured in the distillery's warehouse, but in the large warehouse buildings near the city of Glasgow. There, several malts from other distilleries are mixed in the blends. The production is almost entirely intended for the blended whiskey Dewar's White Label.
