About the winery Konstantin Guntrum is the current owner of the winery Louis Guntrum, founded in 1648 in Nierstein, Rheinhessen. While his Rieslings are praised by wine critics, it is also the Burgunder varieties and Dornfelder that Guntrum has become known to the general public. His Spätburgunder became so popular internationally that Konstantin decided to mention the international name Pinot Noir on the label. Vineyard and region Sourced from vineyards on the gentle slopes of the Rheinhessen, Germany. The soil consists mainly of loam. The grapes are picked by hand. Vinification The grapes are given a short skin maceration. The juice is fermented at a controlled temperature of 16 to 18 degrees in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine matures on the lees ('sur lie'). This softens the wine and gives the wine extra complexity. Color Golden yellow with copper glow. Smell Aromatic, notes of tropical fruit and spiciness. Taste Fresh, yet full, white wine. Lots of ripe fruit (peach and pear) and a long, spicy aftertaste. Serve at Delicious with pork tenderloin and chicken.
