The Kurayoshi is a pure malt whisky sourced from Japan by Matsui Shuzou, a still relatively unknown whisky producer. This is mainly because they focus on making sake and shochu. This pure malt started as a blend of spirits imported from Scotland, blended with Japanese distilled malted barley and then matured for 8 to 13 years, giving this Japanese whisky the soft aromas of sweet oak and honey with earthy notes of peat. The flavour pallet is in the same region but its sweet influences come more from sultanas and vanilla,which are quickly succeeded by toasted nuts and cinnamon. Its crisp finish is short-lived, interspersed with fruity and floral notes.
