In 1812, Royal Brackla was founded in the north of the Scottish Highlands. Royal Brackla was then the purveyor to the court of King William IV and was therefore labelled ‘The King's Own Whisky’ by the king. This also made them the first distillery to receive the designation ‘Royal’ from the king.
