Penderyn Sherrywood has aromas of dark fruit, hazelnut, and toffee. The taste features a rich sweetness from the fruit with a beautiful dry finish. In the late nineties, a group of friends started a new distillery in Penderyn at the southern tip of the Brecon Beacons. Penderyn whisky was launched on St. David’s Day 2004. They distill to 92%, which ensures that this whisky is fresh, fruity, and full of flavor. The distilling team at Penderyn consists entirely of women. The house style of this Welsh whisky is created through the use of two different types of casks: first Bourbon casks, and subsequently used Madeira casks. For the Bourbon casks, they collaborate with Buffalo Trace and partly with Evan Williams. For the Madeira casks, they have a partnership with the best Madeira houses.
