The Highland Park 14 Years 2004 is a powerful and characterful single cask whisky from Orkney, distilled in 2004 and bottled after 14 years of cask maturation, often at cask strength (around 58–62% ABV). Maturation in refill casks (such as hogsheads or sherry puncheons) ensures the distillate remains the star of the show, with a lovely balance between fruit, spice and subtle smoke.

On the nose, sweet and fresh aromas emerge, such as vanilla, ripe pear and apple, complemented by honey, light citrus and a soft hint of heather and peat smoke. On the palate, it is full-bodied and intense: initially spicy with pepper and ginger, then evolving into fruity notes of banana, nectarine and orange peel, underpinned by chocolate and a slight saltiness.

The finish is long and warming, with a combination of fruity sweetness, gentle smoke and a subtle influence of wood and spices.
