The Glencadam distillery was founded in 1825, but remained relatively unknown until a few years ago. For almost two centuries, Glencadam quietly produced whisky for blends. In 2000, owner Allied Domecq mothballed the distillery due to overproduction. The distillery remained silent until the independent Scottish company Angus Dundee Distillers took it over in June 2003. They were able to restart production quickly because the distillery had been left in excellent condition by the previous owners. Angus Dundee introduced an extensive core range, finally giving Glencadam the status of a single malt in its own right. Glencadam 30 Years Old Single Cask 1982 #730 is a rare single cask release. Only 240 bottles were drawn from sherry cask #730, filled in June 1982. The whisky has grassy and fresh aromas of apple, pear, apricot, toffee, almonds, herbs and a hint of black pepper. The palate brings soft flavours of toffee sweetness, orange, apricot, cocoa powder and light peat, leading to a long and creamy finish.
