There is often a floral freshness too, along with a subtle spiciness reminiscent of white pepper or ginger.

On the palate, it is creamy and smooth, typically Irish in style but with added intensity due to the high alcohol content and the absence of filtration. Sweet malt, honey and vanilla form the base, whilst fruity notes of orchard fruit and light citrus develop. As it opens up, spicy accents such as pepper and a hint of oak also emerge.

The finish is medium to long, warm and slightly spicy, with lingering sweetness of malt and honey, complemented by fresh fruity notes and a soft, dry woody touch.

Overall impression:

A pure, characterful Irish whiskey that focuses on fruit, smoothness and balance, without the influence of peat. Thanks to Blackadder’s production method (single cask, non-chill filtered, no colouring), the character remains pure and intense, often with a full, oily texture.
