About the Winery Saint Clair is named after James Sinclair, who was responsible for the first settlements in Blenheim, New Zealand, the winery's home on the South Island. Founded in 1978, the family business is one of the pioneers in wine growing in Marlborough. That is why the link with pioneer James Sinclair was quickly made. Saint Clair owns more than 270 hectares of vineyards in Marlborough on the South Island and in Hawke's Bay on the North Island. Vineyard and region Sourced from a selected vineyard in Wairau Valley, a sub-region of Marlborough, New Zealand. It is usually slightly cooler here than the rest of Marlborough. The vineyard is planted in a direction slightly different from the usual north-south orientation and has extremely healthy leaf growth, which contributes to the green-spicy notes in the wine. Vinification The grapes are harvested at night and pressed immediately (avoiding contact with the skins as much as possible) to retain maximum freshness. For this reason, the juice is also fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks. Color Lemon Yellow. Smell Vibrant notes of green pepper, lime and rosemary. Taste Rich and full with notes of ripe passion fruit and lime. Citrus and green-spicy notes. Lots of length. Serve at Lekker with seared scallops.
