Mount Gay XO Triple Cask derives its name from the barrel ageing process, which involves three different types of casks. The rum makers also use rum distillates that have been distilled using both pot stills and column stills. In terms of the casks used, the Triple Cask is matured in a combination of ex-whisky, ex-bourbon and ex-cognac casks, all of which impart unique characteristics to this rum. This method results in an excellently balanced rum with a flavourful, balanced character.
