Jagertee (or also spelled Jagatee or Jäger tea) is a traditional hot alcoholic drink from Austria, especially popular in the Alpine regions during the winter months. The name literally means ‘hunting tea’.

What is in Jagertee?

It is a mix of the following ingredients:

Inländer-Rum 40%

Red wine, orange juice, spices and sugar.

What does it taste like?

Jagertee is powerful, spicy and warming - it tastes like a kind of rum tea with a rich, warm aftertaste. The alcohol and spices make it ideal after skiing or hiking in the cold (après-ski!).

In Germany, the name "Jagertee" is protected by law and may only be used for drinks from Austria.
