Konstantin Guntrum is the current owner of the Louis Guntrum winery, founded in 1648 in Nierstein, Rheinhessen. While his Rieslings are praised by wine critics, it is also the Burgunder varieties and Dornfelder that Guntrum has become known to the general public. His Spätburgunder became so popular internationally that Konstantin decided to mention the international name Pinot Noir on the label. Sourced from vineyards in the village of Nierstein in Rheinhessen. The vineyards are located along the banks of the Rhine on very steep slopes. The grapes are picked by hand. The juice is fermented at a controlled temperature of 16 degrees in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine matures on the lees ('sur lie'). This softens the wine and gives the wine extra complexity. Lemon yellow with a green glow. Delicate notes of apple, mandarin, white peach and apricots. Soft and fruity with a nice balance between ripe fruit, fresh acidity and minerality. A classic expression of Riesling.
