About the winery Trapiche was founded in 1883 with a small vineyard at the foot of the Andes, called El Trapiche. Started as a local company, Trapiche has now grown into a major winery with more than 1,200 hectares of vineyards. In addition, they work with more than 300 wine growers in the area to offer wine from the best terroirs in Mendoza. Vineyard and region Sourced from several vineyards near the Mendoza River, Argentina. Vinification The grapes are destemmed and undergo a cold maceration. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 23-26 degrees for 15 days. The wine then matures further in wood for 9 months. Color Ruby red with a purple glow. Scent: Plums, blackberries, blackcurrants, toast and vanilla. Taste Sultry wine, lots of dark fruit with a velvety mouthfeel. At Lekker, serve with cheeses such as Gruyère, Gouda and Edam. Also delicious with sausages and steak from the BBQ.
