The old Grappa di Barolo, with a great personality, remains in oak for two to five years, until it changes its original sensory profile. It was love at first sight. After tasting the Barolo, King Carlo Alberto of Savoy would not have been able to resist and, to ensure sufficient supplies of that super-fine Nebbiolo, he decided to buy the castle of Verduno, where General Staglieno, an expert oenologist, made a first-class Barolo. The Savoy sovereign was only one of the first to be convinced of the value of that wine, now produced in a limited area of the Langhe but known all over the world. Grappa can only follow in the footsteps of wine and become a reference point for the "Piemontese secche". In 2001 she won the only gold medal for a Grappa in Bordeaux.
